Meredith B. Lee, the son of the late Esther Miller-Simons and James B. Lee, was born on March 26, 1940 in Southeast Washington, District of Columbia. Meredith departed this life peacefully on February 11, 2021 at his home in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.
Meredith was raised in Washington, DC and was educated in the District of Columbia Public School system and graduated from Phelps Vocational High School. After completing high school, Meredith worked various jobs within the DC area. He then went on to join the United States Army National Guard of the District of Columbia. Meredith served 6 years in the Military as a Military Police officer before being honorably discharged.
Meredith started his career with the United States Department of Justice as a communication specialist. He was a well-respected and loyal employee who received numerous awards and honors for his outstanding job performance. He retired after 31 years of service. After retiring from the Department of Justice, he was then employed by the United States Investigative Services (CIA) for 10 years. On April 24, 1977, Meredith became a confirmed member of the Peace Lutheran Church of Washington, D.C. He was a devoted member of the men’s group, Liturgical Choir, Unity Choir and attended several Men’s Retreats. He remained a faithful member until his health failed him. In his younger years, Meredith sang in a Quartet called the Faberjays as a high tenor traveling from state to state performing. Meredith loved traveling, fishing, and was an avid reader. He enjoyed National Geographic and Western Cowboy Films and documentaries. One of his favorite genres was British Comedies.
Meredith leaves to cherish his memories, a devoted daughter, Carnelia Lee Austin (Curtis); granddaughter Ikea Witcher; brother Judge Gerald Bruce (Edna Vincent) Lee, sister Karen Denise (Tyrone) Barton, nephew Maximilian (Nina) Lee, Former wife and friend Odell Lee, cousins Pamela (Ricky) Andrew, Clarence and Eugene Henson, Ronald (Patricia) Robinson, Aunt Magdalene Thames, god-daughter Chequetia Burnett, god-son Pedro Makins, god-son Johnathan (Michelle) Sweetney, a devoted god-brother Ronald Fletcher, special family friends Larry (Sharon) Jones and a host of other relatives and friends.
